Emily Falls and other Walking Tracks

Peel Forest Reserve is renowned for it's beautiful scenery and walking tracks. A map of the reserve and walking tracks (with details of these) are available to guests. There are walks suitable for all levels of fitness - from flat easy walks to visit ancient trees, easy/medium walks to waterfalls, to longer walks up Mount Peel.

Get up close with NZ Birds

See and hear many of NZ's beautiful birds up close: bellbirds, kereru, fantail, rifleman and other native birds are regular visitors near the house and around the property.

The property is set on over 1 hectare of private forest within the reserve. The Lookout is uniquely nestled in the forest while being high in the tree tops (split level home on 3 levels).

Private Gardens & Outdoor Entertainment

The property has large private gardens with walking tracks for guests to enjoy. Two foot bridges which cross over a beautiful stream, a rustic children's hut in the forest. BBQ, outdoor dining table and chairs located on main deck so you can enjoy the views nestled in the forest.

Enjoy exploring the unique rainforest flora and fauna. At different times of the year you will enjoy flowering plants, such as Kanuka (January), the NZ Tree Fuschia (Kotukutuku), Himilayan Lilies (December), and Exotic Rhododendrons (Spring)

Walking Track to House

There is a short, magical walk through the forest (2 minutes) from the private carpark to the house. It has a gentle incline plus steps on the steeper section. People with limited mobility will find it arduous (it is not suitable for the very elderly). And we recommend if you have large suitcases to leave them in the private carpark.

"We loved our stay here. Bec setup everything to be family safe for our wee babes. It is fully stocked, has everything you need, is warm, has beautiful views, We enjoyed a weekend away celebrating a birthday with family and friends. "

Chris, Lucia, Pablo March 2022

"The Lookout is even better than the photos. The long views, nature all around you, the path over the stream to this most special place... The amenities are excellent, every time you ask yourself: is there a ...? You find it. The beds, the linens, all top notch. The water, so soft... What you will not experience till you get here, is the amazing silence from the world you left behind, and all you will hear when you get up in the morning is a symphony of bird songs, near and far. I could stay here forever, and never tire of it!"

Marina C, USA, April 2020

"After horse riding through Peel Forest there was no where better we could have stayed. Your home is absolutely incredible. The breathtaking views, cosy fire and the intentional and incredible environmentally friendly house made it a delight! The attention and thought to detail is inspiring. Thank you for having us!! xx"

O'Toole Family, Sydney Australia, April 2019

"It was hands down my best Airbnb experience so far! The house was hidden in the forest and blended so incredibly well with nature. You can def see the time, effort and thought the host put into this house. So aesthetically pleasing yet very environmentally conscious. I could literally write an essay about everything I loved about this place. By the way it was the best place for meditation. Thank you so much Bec again, for being an amazing host."
